Need some weekend reading? Here you go–a four-page piece on Justin Bieber’s vocal producer, who actually does have four pages’ worth of story in him. A lot of that, of course, consists of peeks behind the studio soundproofing at Bieber and Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez’s recording habits and quirks. (J. Lo’s vocals apparently have “cry in them.” Someone will have to sift through her songs to try to spot that; lately there’s not much for either sense of “cry.”)
Then there’s this:
[Bieber] was distracted; at midnight it would be his birthday. “I’m gonna get my Black Card,” he sang, “Order it tomorrow-oh-oh.
Between this and that GQ profile, you’d be forgiven for thinking Bieber does nothing but go around turning environmental stimuli into singing outbursts. That’s basically documented fact now, isn’t it?
We should highlight one more thing from the article. Harrell’s apparently signed a girl group called Calvillo. They seem promising. But we can’t do much research about that, because in possibly related news, all their YouTube videos of their old stuff are now private. However, this cool mix-your-own-track game isn’t private! And it’s got a full track as part of the deal! And it’s… well, it’s OK. You really, really wonder what those YouTube videos were like.
