FOX placed a pretty big bet on Demi Lovato when they named her one of the judges of the upcoming season of The X Factor, very arguably the show’s make-or-break season. Things must be going pretty well with that, since not only is the channel not backing away from their investment (which was still a pittance compared to the cash they pumped into Britney Spears’ starring role), they’re doubling down, reportedly naming Lovato as the host of the upcoming Teen Choice Awards.
Remember when Demi Lovato was in rehab for mental exhaustion like, not all that long ago? OK, to be fair, it was almost two years ago at this point, which in teen star years is enough time for at least two comebacks-and-go-away-agains, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that Demi’s stay in Illinois’ Timberline Knolls facility is being considered fairly far in the rearview at this point. Still, hosting the Teen Choice Awards isn’t like hosting Saturday Night Live—it’s a major responsibility, not one for the faint of heart or frail of constitution.
Nonetheless, we’re happy for Demi, and wish her the best of luck with the assignment. Plus, if Miley Cyrus could host this damn show four years ago at the veteran age of 15, maybe it’s not such a tough assignment after all.
