The video for Nelly Furtado’s “The Spirit Indestructible” is pretty much an exact match for the song. The start is slow, even a bit unfortunate; Nelly’s singing in spotlight in front of a red curtain, and it’s all well and stately and inspirational, but it’s intercut with scenes in front of a bonfire that you can’t help but wish were the main focus.
The facial expression that goes with that feeling.
Fortunately–as in the song itself–this only lasts a minute or so, after which awesome backdrops and scenery and vaguely inspirational prance-and-dance goes on. Part of your spirit being indestructible and miraculous, it seems, is that you get the ability to hang out in fields of snow, by the beach and around a bonfire on the same day. If you’re a guy, it also means you get the ability to bend backward farther than most people could. It’s like “I’m Like a Bird” but uptempo, perhaps, and it’s probably going to be inspiring someone.
